Post History
On November 10, 1955, the first meeting of what would become Howard L. Turner American Legion Post 276 was held in the Severn area. Buck Hood, John Burns, and 16 other veterans gathered to establish an American Legion Post to serve the local community.
Earlier, Buck Hood and John Burns had met with Vice Commander Dione of The American Legion to discuss obtaining a charter. They were advised that a minimum of fifteen members was required. With that goal achieved, the first meeting was held to elect officers and begin establishing the Post.
